Booking & pricing
How quickly can I get scanned?
Most patients are scanned within five working days. We regularly have same-day and next-day slots available — check the booking page for live availability.
How much does it cost?
All extremity scans are £399. The price includes the scan, radiologist report, and aftercare. See our pricing page for the full list.
Do I need a referral letter?
No — you can self-refer. If you do have a letter from your GP, physiotherapist, or consultant, you can upload it during booking and our radiologist will use it to inform their report.
Can I claim on private medical insurance?
We're working on direct settlement with the major UK insurers. For now, you pay upfront and we provide an itemised invoice you can submit for reimbursement.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major debit and credit cards, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay through our secure Stripe checkout. Payment is taken at the time of booking.
About the scan
How is your scanner different from a normal MRI?
We use an open, mobile 1.5T scanner designed specifically for extremity imaging. The experience is open and comfortable — no enclosed tunnel — and you stay in the room with the radiographer the whole time.
Will I be claustrophobic?
It's extremely unlikely. Patients who can't tolerate traditional MRI machines almost always complete our scan without issue. Our scanner is open on all sides and you can see and talk to the radiographer at all times.
How long does the scan take?
The actual imaging takes around 30 minutes. With check-in, safety questionnaire, and getting comfortable, the whole appointment is typically 30 minutes.
Is the scan painful or uncomfortable?
No. MRI is non-invasive — there are no needles, no radiation, and no discomfort. The main thing you'll notice is the noise of the machine, which is significantly quieter than a traditional MRI.
Can I have an MRI if I have metal implants?
It depends on the type. Most modern implants (joint replacements, dental work, surgical clips) are MRI-safe. Pacemakers, certain aneurysm clips, and cochlear implants are usually not. We send a full safety questionnaire ahead of your appointment.
Preparation & on the day
What should I wear?
Loose, comfortable clothing without metal fastenings (no zips, studs, or wired bras). For lower-limb scans, shorts or loose trousers are ideal. We can provide a gown if needed.
Do I need to fast or stop medication?
No fasting required. Take all medications as normal. Inform our team if you take blood thinners or steroids — purely so the radiologist has the full picture.
Can I bring someone with me?
Absolutely. A friend or family member can wait in the reception area, or be in the scan room with you if it helps you relax (subject to safety screening).
How early should I arrive?
10 minutes before your appointment time. We use the time to confirm your details, complete the safety checklist, and answer any questions.
Reports & after
When will I get my report?
Within 24 hours of your scan, by email. Urgent cases can be turned around the same day on request.
Who reads my scan?
Every scan is reported by a fellowship-trained musculoskeletal (MSK) radiologist with at least eight years of subspecialty experience.
What if I have questions about the report?
Our coordinator can talk you through general questions, and the reporting radiologist can be contacted for clinical queries. For treatment decisions, take the report to your GP or specialist.
How long are my images stored?
Seven years, in line with UK medical record retention guidelines. You can download your report and images from your patient portal anytime in that period.
